Fundación Botín

At the Madrid headquarters of the Fundación Botín, Techlam® porcelain materials recreate an attractive industrial aesthetic from the contemporary perspective of a project that delves into the building’s original essence.

A space dating from 1920 is the exceptional location for the Fundación Botín, belonging to the Santander Group. Respect for the recent past is in evidence in the work by the MVN architecture practice, whose intervention champions its primeval character under a contemporary approach. The presence of classic materials closely linked to the industrial aesthetic of the early 20th century, such as exposed brick and wood, thus coexist with two state-of-the-art Levantina products: Techlam® Vulcano Roca and Techlam® Vulcano Ceniza.
The dark and powerful colour of the former clads the walls of bathrooms and corridors, while the latter, in a lighter shade, exhibits its beauty on the floors. The finishes of these two porcelain materials inspired in the power of volcanic rock integrate in a natural manner into a project whose principal argument was the quest for light, which shines through openings and roof lights. The Fundación Botín is a magnificent example of this perfect fusion of avant-garde and tradition.
